Dr. Paul Friedman Recognized in the Media for His Initiative to Help Sex Trafficking Survivors

As the Director of Dermatology & Laser Surgery Center, Dr. Paul Friedman provides state-of-the-art skin treatments for patients in Houston. However, he also uses his skill and experience for philanthropic efforts. In particular, Dr. Friedman is dedicated to providing pro bono laser removal of branding tattoos to survivors of sex trafficking. His work was recently recognized in Practical Dermatology’s “Physician Spotlight” and in a press release by The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Understanding the Need for Tattoo Removal for Survivors of Sex Trafficking

In his position as President of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, Dr. Friedman has a mission to create a national directory of board-certified ASLMS physicians who will provide pro bono tattoo removal for sex trafficking survivors in a safe and supportive environment. When individuals are exploited for sex trafficking they are often forced to receive tattoos that mark them as “for sale” or as “property” of their abusers. By working with groups that help people escape sex trafficking, Dr. Friedman can play a significant part in helping survivors in their psychological recovery.
