What is Actinic Keratoses, Why Does it Occur?

Not many people are familiar with the term actinic keratoses, or AKs. These are small, scaly spots most commonly found on areas of the body that are exposed to the sun such as the face, ears, neck, arms and hands. Actinic keratoses affects fair-skinned people mostly.

Sometimes, this condition will advance to a stage that will require more extensive treatment. Use of sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher can help prevent these lesions even if extensive sun damage has already occurred.
