Every patient is unique and has different cosmetic goals, but every patient starts their journey at Dermatology & Laser Surgery Center in Houston, TX with a consultation. This is a required step in the treatment process and is highly important. Your consultation will allow you to get to know our experienced providers and provide you with the opportunity to learn about your treatment options.
Consultations take a minimum of one hour, and depending on the cosmetic issues you’re looking to resolve, may take up to two hours. During this time, our aesthetic coordinator will take photos we’ll use to track your progress, review your medical history and intake form, discuss your goals, any concerns you may have, and possibly show videos that provide additional education about certain conditions and treatments.
Then one of our board-certified dermatologists will meet with you, sometimes accompanied by a board-certified dermatology fellow. During this time, you can discuss your concerns in depth. Your doctor will ensure they understand your specific needs and will provide you with the options that can achieve the results you’re seeking. Appropriate skin care is often a big part of this conversation.
Finally, the aesthetic coordinator will return to discuss your treatment plan, scheduling, any recommended skin care products, and expected costs.
Some patients seeing Dr. Friedman — specifically those struggling with basic scars or rosacea—have the option of choosing a photo consultation. For this type of consultation, Mica, Dr. Friedman’s aesthetic coordinator will be the main point of contact throughout the process which will involve sending in photos of your areas of concern. These photos will be reviewed by Dr. Friedman and a treatment plan will be determined and shared with you. Should you decide to move forward with treatment, you will meet with Dr. Friedman on the day your procedure takes place.

Mica
Mica Sarcone is Dr. Friedman’s Aesthetic Coordinator. She has been working in the dermatology world for almost 4 years with a background in the beauty industry and customer service. Mica’s favorite part of being a coordinator is helping create customized treatment plans so patients can achieve their desired goals. Mica is great at guiding patients throughout their entire journey with us from booking their consultation, reviewing treatment plans, recommending a skincare regimen, and scheduling treatments. She always likes to remind patients that this is a long-term relationship—beautiful skin is not achieved overnight! Outside of work, Mica enjoys spending time with her family and friends and traveling!

Sharnae
Sharnae Lamar has been happy to call Dermatology & Laser Surgery Center her home since 2017. She is currently Dr. Heather Richmond’s and Dr. Emily Guo’s Patient Care Coordinator. Sharnae is a native Houstonian and began her career in dermatology as a medical assistant. Over the past five years, Sharane has mastered the art of connecting with patients and translating their expectations to the physicians as a Patient Care Coordinator. Sharnae is a skincare enthusiast who loves to sift through magazine articles in order to stay up to date on new skincare trends, the latest products, and ingredients. In her free time, Sharnae loves spending time with her family, exploring exotic cuisines, and watching classical Hollywood cinema.
