Dr. Paul Friedman uses the new PicoSure Picosecond Laser Workstation by CynoSure® to help patients remove stretched, deformed, or discolored tattoos in less time than ever before.

New York, NY – Dr. Paul M. Friedman, a New York dermatologist, prides himself on keeping his practice up to date with the latest technology the dermatology field has to offer. Many patients visit his office seeking tattoo removal, and with the PicoSure Picosecond Laser Workstation, his patients will now receive more effective treatment in a shorter timespan.

Dr. Friedman’s patients have a variety of reasons for wanting to remove their tattoos. Tattoos can become stretched, deformed, or discolored as a person ages. Sometimes a tattoo simply no longer fits in with the patient’s current lifestyle.

According to CynoSure®, the developer of the new laser, the average laser tattoo removal patients are college-educated and between the ages of 24-39 years old. As the popularity of tattoos has increased in the past few decades, the number of people wanting to eventually remove them has also increased. Just a few years ago, the removal of a tattoo could cause a scar-like appearance on the skin. However, due to advances in technology, laser tattoo removal has become a safer and more effective treatment.

The PicoSure Picosecond Laser Workstation (or “Pico Laser”) by CynoSure® features a breakthrough in laser technology that applies short bursts of energy to the patient’s skin. The width of each pulse is 100 times shorter than standard nanosecond technology. This more focused energy burst allows an unmatched photomechanical impact that often results in fewer treatments required for each patient to fully remove a tattoo.

The traditional nanosecond lasers typically used for tattoo removal heat the pigment of the ink and the surrounding tissue with the hope of breaking down the color. Conversely, PicoSure utilizes PressureWave Technology to fragment the ink into miniature particles that can be easily processed and removed by the body. With the PicoSure laser, even blue and green inks – some of the most difficult to remove – can be effectively treated.

In addition to providing his patients with skin rejuvenating treatments and cosmetic enhancement procedures such as Ultherapy, CoolSculpting®, and many other options, Dr. Friedman has removed hundreds of unwanted tattoos. With the PicoSure laser, Dr. Friedman is able to produce even more impressive results for his New York dermatology patients.
