Dr. Paul Friedman at Pro Bono Laser Clinic for Patients with Vascular Birthmarks

Dr. Paul Friedman, the director of Dermatology & Laser Surgery Center, recently took part in a Pro Bono Laser Clinic for patients with vascular birthmarks in Boston, Massachusetts at Candela Medical Headquarters.

The Pro Bono Laser Clinic and Dr. Friedman’s Expertise in Laser Treatments

The pro bono laser clinic was hosted by the Vascular Birthmark Foundation (VBF) in partnership with the American Society For Laser Medicine Surgery (ASLMS). From 2022 to 2023, Dr. Friedman served as President of the ASLMS and during his term he fostered a relationship with the VBF that allowed the two organizations to work together to create open access best practice guidelines for safe and effective laser treatment of cutaneous vascular anomalies.

The patients at this clinic, ranging from infants to middle age, were seeking treatment for vascular birthmarks such as hemangiomas and port wine stains. Each patient at the clinic had no other access to laser treatment or had been previously denied the treatment they needed. Dr. Friedman said that the event was an opportunity to, “put together an international group of physicians to highlight best practices so they can effectively and safely deliver results for patients with vascular anomalies.”
