Cosmopolitan Magazine Editor Sees Dr. Paul Friedman For Tattoo Removal
Posted: May | 06
Dr. Paul M. Friedman, was featured in the April Cosmopolitan’s Sexy Beauty Secrets Blog article, “The Very Long and Painful Process of Tattoo Removal.” Written by Cosmopolitan Magazine beauty editor Carly Cardellino, the article describes her two-year experience of getting a small, crescent-shaped moon tattoo on her foot removed.
Cardellino, who saw two dermatologists during the process – the latter being Dr. Friedman – explains how she met our Houston and New York dermatologist at his book meeting for Beautiful Skin Revealed: The Ultimate Guide to Better Skin in 2010. Although previous treatments for removing the teal colored part of the tattoo had been mostly successful, Cardellino says she turned to Dr. Friedman, who offered the new PicoSure™ laser specifically for treatment of the reddish pink ink.
As the latest advancement in tattoo removal, the bandwidth for the PicoSure™ laser is 100 times shorter than traditional lasers. This allows for the ink particles to disintegrate better, making it easier on your body to eventually eliminate the artwork. Dr. Friedman also states that tattoo removal generally involves the use of a combination of lasers, especially when patients have a multicolored tattoo. In the case of Cardellino’s tattoos, both the PicoSure™ and Q-switched laser were used. Ultimately, it’s about finding an approach for the patient to provide the most effective results in the least amount of treatments possible, notes Dr. Friedman. We’re looking forward to seeing Carly again, he says. With a visibly significant improvement now achieved, she has just one more appointment in May.
